Five Tips to Staying Healthy

Greetings Leaders…

I thought I’d share a recent picture of us on a Disney Cruise. It’s nice to be fit at 62 so I can enjoy life! A key component of Leadership is taking care of your health and keeping fit. This is not about losing weight or looking like a model. This is about being the best you that you can be. You owe it to yourself to be an awesome you! When you are healthy and fit, you will invariably look the best you can, feel the best you can and perform the best you can. What more could you hope for in life? Looking good, feeling good, and well…. kicking butt! I’m sure this isn’t news to you, so why don’t most of us take the time to eat healthy and be fit?

The answer is pretty simple. Bad Habits. I am blessed with fairly good health for my age and I give thanks to God for that everyday. But, I did have something to do with how I look and feel today and it all started when I was in my 20s. I was always fairly active, but never a sports fanatic. When I entered the Navy, I was forced to stay fit and that has remained with me ever since. Exercise and eating healthy have become habits.

To be healthy you need to get into the habit of being healthy. This takes two things, time and commitment.

Here is my simple advice to staying healthy

  1. Exercise at least 3 times a week
  2. Eat Healthy
  3. Limit Alcohol Intake
  4. Reduce Stress
  5. Get a Good Nights Sleep

I know none of these are new, but keep an eye out for future blogs where I will break these all down in more detail and tell you how I go about achieving all of these. Including making the commitment to keep fit.

All the best!
All the time!
JT
