The Path of the Honorable Leader – Living in the Now

Greetings Leaders!

This is the 16th posting in The Path of the Honorable Leader series.

The Path of the Honorable Leader takes one on a journey. Along the way a leader experiences many things. Victory and Defeat. Moments of exhilaration or falling into the pit of despair. If one is not careful, these events can leave us blinded by our success or scarred by our failures. Both prevent a leader from being effective.

By focusing on the past, a leader cannot be present in the now or plan for the future. If you have been successful, celebrate… and move on. Don’t be like the high school athlete that can’t get let go of their past success well into their 40s or 50s. Your best moments are ahead of you, not behind you. If you have failed, give yourself grace… and move on. We all make mistakes. Focusing on your mistakes, prevents you from believing you can achieve greatness. It becomes your ball and chain if you can’t learn to forgive yourself. To be effective, a leader must live in the now. You must focus on the task at hand and do your best to Lead With Honor, regardless of your past, or what the future, looks like.

All the best!
All the time!
