Greetings leaders!

One of my most popular posts has been on how to “get”other people’s respect. It may be a spouse, coworker or boss, but the question is the same. So is respect something you “get” or is it something you earn? A couple of things to think about…

1. Respect must be earned. If you have integrity, work hard and are diligent about what you do and how you behave, you will earn respect.

2. If you follow my advice and are still not respected, there are a few things to think about. First, this person you are trying to win over might be the problem, not you. Some people have unreasonable expectations. What can you do if this is the case? You either accept it or run for the door. The other question you may need to ask yourself is do YOU respect yourself? Is there something that you can’t forgive yourself for, or problems with your self-image? If you can’t respect yourself, why should anyone else?

If you find yourself here, don’t worry. Just keep asking the question and try to become better at living a life with honor and integrity. Learn to love yourself!

All the best!
All the time!
