Don’t Aim to Become a Good Leader

Greetings Leaders!

This is obviously a very odd title for a leadership blog, as we should all strive to become better leaders. However, this doesn’t necessarily mean that we should make that our goal. Why not? As I read other blogs or posts on leadership, everyone has a different opinion on what good leadership looks like. So let me ask you, if you are striving to become a good leader, what does that mean? How do you translate this into meaningful goals that are measurable and achievable.

If you want to become a better leader, you should create goals that are concrete and specific. Here are some goals you may want to shoot for:

  1. Raise productivity
  2. Increase staff retention
  3. Increase revenue and sales
  4. Improve staff benefits
  5. Improve staff morale (sometimes difficult to measure)
  6. Create a vision that is worthy of people following you
  7. Improve the lifestyle of your staff or customers
  8. Increase the quality of your product or service
  9. Implement a project on time and on budget
  10. Increase collaboration at all levels in the organization

By trying to accomplish goals like these, one will become a better leader. Be specific. Know what you are trying to accomplish and go for it.

All the best!
All the time!
